Buffalo Hockey Experience + Museum Moves Forward
With Provisional Charter From New York State
07.24.09--
BUFFALO, NEW YORK-- Joseph E. Gambacorta, DDS, founder of the Buffalo Hockey Experience + Museum, announced today that New York State has granted the Museum a Provisional Charter, an important step towards the Museum’s proposed opening. Dr. Gambacorta’s collection of historical hockey memorabilia is the centerpiece of this not-for-profit organization dedicated to the professional sport of hockey in Western New York. The Museum’s proposed opening is in December 2010 to coincide with the World Juniors Hockey Tournament taking place in Buffalo that Winter.
“Obtaining a Provisional Charter, approved by the State of New York, propels our dream of opening the hockey museum one step closer,” stated Dr. Joseph Gambacorta, founder of the Buffalo Hockey Experience + Museum (BHEM) and president of the Museum’s board of directors. “The Provisional Charter helps to make the physical Museum become a reality, hopefully as part of Buffalo’s expanding waterfront.”
“The future Buffalo Hockey Experience + Museum will display our collection of hockey memorabilia which is significant to Western New York and Southern Ontario,” Dr. Gambacorta added, “In addition to the vast collection, the BHEM will include activities, special exhibits, programs and events for families and all hockey fans. We are anticipating a public opening of the Museum during the start of the 2010-11 professional hockey season.”
The Buffalo Hockey Experience and Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of professional hockey in Buffalo, New York and Southern Ontario. The organization will use its extensive collection of memorabilia to raise funds in conjunction with local charities and corporate sponsors for the purpose of supporting charitable causes. A preview of the Museum’s collection will be featured in a limited display at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society this Fall.
